Spring is Coming Soon
Do you sense winter is waning? I feel that March is that transition month between winter and spring. FYI: I have always had a remarkable flair for the obvious! Non the less, I’m thinking positive. Never a dull moment at First Crush. It’s a perfect time of the year to reflect, plan, organize, and bottle wine. Last year we ran out of three of our wines by August. We made much more this year, so that should not be an issue. I will always provide coop members with an alert if we see we are getting low on a particular wine. As always, the coop comes first.
This winter, Diane and I tried to take Monday’s off from the winery, however, we bottled wine the last two Monday’s. Last Monday she said I love this being off on Monday’s plan. I told her, “you are off, off your rocker for supporting my winery life.” She agreed!
At our winter social I announced that I will have a barrel tasting for coop members in March. Guess what day today is?… March 1st. Better plan it now so you can march down here! We did this once before and it was great fun. Can’t be a Monday, I’m off! Can’t be St. Patrick’s Day, since it may make you green with envy! Let’s plan for Friday, March 10th at 5-6pm. We will provide tastings of our new wines and those still in oak hibernation. That’s the bear facts! This is a no charge event for coop members only. Let me know if you plan to attend so that we can have some formage and crackers to nibble on.
2016 Sauvignon Blanc (Star Spangled) and our 2016 Rose (Innocence) are fully available.
Magnums (two bottles) are now available in Fusion (Cab Blend) and VisZinary (Zin Blend). Great to bring as a gift or when more than two people are enjoying our wines. Our 6 liter Cab Blend is also available. On all of these large format bottles, our supply is very limited. They should not last long.
In April, I will have a new wine available. It will be a Super Tuscan Blend comprising Sangiovese and Our Cab Blend, Fusion. We will call this wine, Amore.
In June, I will have our 100% Sangiovese called, Rapture. Yummy, yum!
No firm date to date your date, but should be a lovely Saturday afternoon in early June. Let’s throw a dart at June 10th, 4-6pm.
Each year we attend an Eastern States winery conference to learn and peruse all the new wine making toys. This year the conference will be held in Syracuse. Our CA growers also attend each year. This is a time we look forward to for planning and social interaction. In my eye care days, conferences predictably concentrated of similar things involving education and technology. However, winery conferences have some additional benefits, such as, carving stations at the end of rows in the exhibit hall, and one even bigger difference, WINE is everywhere! Thankfully, we are responsible adults… most of the time!
A man goes to the doctor’s office
and said to the doctor that his body hurt wherever he touched it.
“Impossible!” says the doctor. “Show me.”
The man took his finger, pushed on his left shoulder and screamed,
Then, he pushed his elbow and screamed even more.
He pushed his knee and screamed;
likewise, he pushed his ankle and screamed.
Everywhere he touched on his body made him scream.
The doctor said, “I have diagnosed what your problem is.”
“Your finger is broken.”
This was originally a blonde joke, but discretion is the better part of valor!
Drink my wine my friends,
