Greetings Coop Faithful,
Hope this summer season finds you well and happy. Enjoy the last vestiges of summer since the inevitable may “possibly” be soon to follow. This is the time of the year my mid-night thoughts turn towards the anxiety of making lots of wine. Hard to believe that this is our sixth commercial season at the winery. Many of you reading this participated in the less formal Coop experiences at our Yarmouthport barn in years past. The coop continues to grow daily these days and it will always remain the primary focus for our unique winery model. Diane and I thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm.
September Harvest Social…
Save the date for September 9th, 4-6pm. This is our celebratory pre-harvest social. Coop members and their guests are invited. As always, couples are asked to bring a small appetizer, and redundantly always, singles can mooch. Cajun Bob and his band, the Note Worthies, will provide our musical accompaniment. We are all in suspense, but we may be privy to a new First Crush jingle. Attendees will spring, or fall since it’s almost fall for a $10. tariff per whiner, and $5.00 per an almost huge glass of wine.
Parking is always an issue in our complex. I urge you to make attempts to car pool or Uber if possible.
No Wine Pickup at the Social…
I have decided not to have Coop members’ pickup their wine reserves during the 4-6pm social timeframe. To veteran socialites, it is obvious why I reached that conclusion. I would recommend contacting me to make arrangements to pick up wine any other time, the day before, the morning of the social, on the following day, or any other day following the social. If those options are not convenient, we will consider drinking your wine at the social!
We busy! Sold 5,500+ bottles of wine in July. Despite saving it for Coop only, as I predicted in my last update, Amore, our Super Tuscan Blend is now history. In our next coop season I will make much more Amore. Can’t wait!
In regard to Fusion, our cab blend, we are now distributing 2016. Our 2015 zinfandel blend is still available. 2016 Rapture, our 100% Sangiovese is down to 60 cases and may be gone by October. We should be OK to distribute Sauvignon Blanc and Rose until the holidays.
Still too early to provide details, but historically, grapes arrive in the third week of September.
You will receive multiple updates in September and October outlining timing and such regarding our 2017 season.
2017 Coop Signup…
Over 100 Coop members have already signed up for our next season’s reserve. As a reminder, the Coop season begins on September 1st and ends August 31st. Habitually, most seasoned Coop members pick up their current reserve from last year during the summer and then also sign up for the following year. When doing so, and as a token of my appreciation for joining the next Coop season early, I provide a thank you gift. As with last year, the incentive gift will be two extra bottles of wine of my selection. This incentive offer will be provided through the Thanksgiving weekend.
Important Facts to Remember as We Grow Older…
Death is the number 1 killer in the world.
Life is sexually transmitted.
Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.
Men have 2 motivations: hunger and hanky panky, and they can’t tell them apart. If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a sandwich.
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to use the Internet and they won’t bother you for weeks, months, maybe years.
Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospital, dying of nothing.
Life is like a jar of jalapeno peppers. What you do today may be a burning issue tomorrow.
Drink my wine my friends,
In last month’s update I mentioned that there would be a first time ever pricing change for our Coop reserve. It represents a $10.00 increase per case.
First Crush Popularity…
Level 1 (2 case reserve) $190. per case
Level 2(3-9 case reserve) $180. per case
Level 3 (10 or more case reserve) $170. per case
Individual bottles,beyond a reserve, $16. each
Winemaker recommendation… to get back to a $180. per case rate, consider Level 2. `
FYI: To be consistent going forward, when a Coop member elects to take half of their reserve before picking up the remainder, they will be charged 50% of their discounted price for their remaining reserve. As an example, in a two case reserve, if the case price was $190., and they take one case before the second, they will incur an addition $95., thus leaving a balance on the second case of $95.
