December 2013, First Crush Update

December 4, 2013

Greetings to my wine enriched elves,
To me, it seems like yesterday that we were dealing with the apprehension of our first vintage with all of the unknowns associated with new equipment and thousands of gallons of unproven young wine. Happy New Year! Here we are one year later, and again we have thousands of gallons of wine only eight weeks from grape but the anxiety level is much less. It appears at this early time that our 2013 efforts will rival 2012. And if I may repeat myself, that is a good thing!

We began 2012 distribution in middle July and here we are 5 months or so later and we now have over 50% of that first vintage bottled and in your hands, or beyond your hands if you know what I mean, or to a lesser extent, in the Cape Cod retail marketplace. From where I sit, our first year could not have been more successful in all respects. First Crush Winery evolved out of our COOPerative concept and it will remain its core focus. Due to our robust volume, sales to the retail marketplace will continue to help support our efforts. The positive critical reviews of our wines have been beyond expectation and very satisfying. Thank you all for your support on so many levels.

Our 2013 COOP Reserve
It is now time to send in your 50% 2013 COOP reserve deposit. Once again, the 50% deposit is $180. for a two case reserve, $85. per case when reserving three cases or more and $80. per case at the 10 case or more level. There are no increases in COOP costs for our 2013 vintages.

Despite member deposits on our 2012 COOP wines, some have not picked up their 2012 reserve to date. Please make arrangements to do so soon unless it is not possible due to proximity to the Cape.

Our Winter COOP Social
Our next social is planned for Saturday January 25th, 4-6pm. Same protocol will exist where couples bring a small appetizer, and as before, singles can mooch. A small fee of $10.00 per person will be charged at the door for enjoyment of our First Crush 2012 wines. It will be fun at this time to have you sample our 2013 reds before they go into oak aging. Last January, 95 people attended our January pre-dinner social. Feel free to bring potential COOP members. As in the past, it is always helpful to hear if you are planning to attend.

New Website
I am pleased to report that in one to two weeks, we will have a new website fired up. We have been working on this since summer. It is far advanced from our previous site and will be a great reference for members and friends. The picture and video gallery will be expanded once we get up and running to include our documented efforts this fall.

Happy holidays to all,
Frank and Daine
